Here's a little picture of me in running garb. Not a good look, but needs must.
Being broken-hearted post having been dumped by The One I Loved, I'm on a stupid diet and not eating much. So don't have much energy for running. No 15 mile Sunday trots for me this Summer. Well, not quite yet, anyway.
But I managed to squeeze four and a half miles out yesterday morning and took my friend Kam with me on the way. Think he was more than a little annoyed with my constant stopping to take pictures of ducks, magpies, a life-size Elvis replica on the roof of a fabulous-looking pad on the canal, oh and him, Kam. Especially in that bit of Paddington basin where there are the statues of two men that everyone mistakes for real people (quite eery when the light is a bit dodge).
I learned quickly that running with a big blackberry in my bum pocket isn't much fun (needed to take the pictures shown here, so clearly entirely necessary). Gave me a most peculiar outline and there was a LOT of annoying jangling of phone, keys and money.
We went north up Ladbroke Grove and then east along the canal, running parallel with Harrow Road towards Little Venice and then Paddington. Lovely it were, bright sun shining. Actually a bit too hot but I was too lazy and hungover to get up any sooner. We finished up at Portobello Road to pick up weekend provisions. Which I subsequently forgot to put away yesterday so the basil's all wilted. Disaster.
Kam denied all knowledge of having known the canal could be accessed from where we joined. Despite living in the area for lots of years. He's starting a brilliant-sounding business - www.myrunbuddy.co.uk Take a look and sing up. Or sign up even!
Right, the Archers omnibus is on and sunbathing beckons. Until next time!
Above is Elvis on the roof. You can't see it that clearly but I'm *jealous*. Would love a roof terrace complete with my own Elvis.
Here's Kam getting bored with me taking pictures and doing some exercises. Plus some other runners.
Even the gas works have a certain look about them on such a beautiful day.
The ducks.
Grim-looking, but the A40 providedwelcome shade in the near-blistering heat.
The men statues. Should really find out who made/designed them. One day.
Hurrah! Home at last. Food. Shopping. No running. Bliss.
